In the Nelson-Golden Bay there is a
small group of orchardists who share the same passion for their trees and their apples: the
discoverer of eve® is one of the group. They put their heart and soul into what they do and
they have become known as the Heartland Group. They produce some of the best apples in the
world.
And eve® is their apple-pinnacle: one of the finest apples in the world.
The Heartland group has developed their passion into a craft. They call it ‘applecraft’ and
its made up of three disciplines: growing, harvesting and cellaring.

The beginningIn the Nelson-Golden Bay there is a special place: a place where the
sun seems brighter and the days hotter and the night’s crisper and the sky bluer: where
mountain air rolling down the plains meets salty sea-air: a potent combination of climate
and place that creates a fertility and fecundity in plant life that is special, magical
even. It is called Mariri.
And it is here, in Mariri, a Garden of Eden of the Antipodes, near the end of last century,
that an apple tree produced the most wonderful apple bud.
